CamPod USB to Parallel Port Adapter for Step and Direction CNC Motor Controllers

CamPod is a USB to Parallel Port Adapter used by SuperCamXp to generate machine control signals, replacing the use of the parallel port on the host computer.

The USB cable is plugged into the host computer and into the CamPod.

The CamPod is a three axis signal generator for XYZ type mechanisms. There are also signals for controlling two relays for torch, laser, spindle, coolant control.

A parallel printer cable plugs into the other end of the CamPod and then into the Step and Direction motor controller intended to work with the parallel port of a PC computer.

The default signal assignments of the signals match the Super Tech line of electronic motor controllers.The signal assignments can be changed internally by hardwire jumpers.

This is a plug and play way of adapting existing motor controllers based on a parallel port interface to work with XP computers and the SuperCamXp

The USB cable plugs into this end of the CamPod.

There is a ferrite EMI filter on the CamPod end of the USB Cable, that is provided.

Maximum USB cable length is three(3) meters.

The USB interface is compatible with 2.0 standards.

The electrical power required for the CamPod is drawn from the USB cable.

CamPod USB to Parallel Port Adapter for Step and Direction CNC Motor Controllers

The output of the CamPod is a female parallel port 25 pin connector.

By default signal assignments match Super Tech's motor controllers.

A straight threw cable is used between this connector and the step and direction controller.

Provisions have been made so that internally traces can be cut and rewired to reassign the control signals to different pins in the parallel port connector.

There are two integrated circuits that electrically isolate the single board computer, and provide signal strengths equivalent to the original PC parallel printer port outputs.

There is an empty 14 pin DIP for installing a signal inverter chip, which can be wired to change the polarity of six(6) of the output signals. By default the power and ground is wired for a 74LS14 integrated circuit.

Each Signal pin has a capacitor to filter out radio frequencies.

There are two integrated circuits that electrically isolate the single board computer, and provide signal strengths equivalent to the original PC printer port outputs.The board is 6" x 4", with four mounting holes, one on each corner .25" in from the edge.

The circuit board that is inside the CamPod is sold with the terminal blocks, LED's, transister relay drivers and a socket for a 14 pin Dip. OEM inquiries are welcome for the USB CamPod Breakout Board.
