The chgorder command can be selected from the EDITOR pull-down menu or by entering chgorder on the command line.

The change order command has two selection processes. The first selection is prompting for the object that is to be after the second object to be prompted for.

When selecting the chgorder command, the command line prompts, chgorder, CHANGE items ORDER, select:. Only one graphics object can be selected at a time. The crosshair cursor changes and there is a small box at the intersection. This box is the selection area. Place this box over the object, or a part of the object, and select by clicking the left mouse button.

The color of the selected object will change to red. The object selected first is like it is physically being taken out of the order and is getting placed after the second object selected. The SHIFT-F2 function is useful because it toggles the draw up flag, which displays the tool path for the cutting order. When the draw up flag is OFF, the start and end markers appear only on the first selected item. Having the draw up flag ON the entire tool path is displayed with the start and end markers. The start of a line item shows a green box at the beginning of the line. The end of a line item shows a red triangle at the end the line. After toggling the draw up flag, F1 (redraw function) must be pressed to see the change.

The command line will prompt: Item ? , Enter new order <0-17>:. The Item ? is the order number the object is in the drawing. The numbers in <> shows the number of graphics objects in the drawing with 0 being the first object in the cutting order. The object selected at this prompt will be before the first object selected. When this second selection is made the order has changed and the command is ended. If the draw up flag is ON the tool path will be seen changing also.

The chgorder command is useful to lessen the travel distances between objects being cut. Also if certain objects must be cut first, for example; if cutting an "O", the inside circle would need to be cut before cutting the outside.

To resume the chgorder command, click the right mouse button.
