This Machine Tool Servo Motor Controller was designed to operate with brushed servo motors that have optical encoders attached. The encoder signals are differiential making long motor cables possible.
Controller can be made with two of the motor drivers are synchronized for gantry styled machine tools or four independent axis motors.
Powered by an Internal 60 volt, 10 amp power supply with a choice of either 120 or 240 VAC input power. There is a power switch on the connector panel.
Two internal relays are 10 ampere contact type. Controllers connector panel can have switched input power or a terminal block for the internal relay contacts.
There is a DB15 Female connector for each servo motor. The single ended encoder signals, servo power and limit switches are all combined into this connector.
The servo motors included with the EMC-XYYZ-GSBX kits are rated at 72 Volts, 8.5 Ampere and 850 oz/in Torque. Designed for direct replacement of NEMA 34 size stepper motors with servo motors.
The controller cabinet is a 12" X 12" X 6" electrical utility box with rubber feet mounted on the bottom. The weight of the controller is 36 lbs.
Controller is shipped in a 15" X 15" X 10" cardboard box. 38 lbs shipping weight.

Pin 1 Home Mode needs to be high during Home command execution, this synchronizes the two Y motors. When one engages the limit switch it will stop until the other motor also engages it's limit switch.
Pin 2 X Step is normally Low, pulsing High to step the X motor one increment of movement.
Pin 3 X Dir controls the direction of the motors rotation.
Pin 4 Y Step is normally Low, pulsing High to step the Y motor one increment of movement.
Pin 5 Y Dir controls the direction of the motors rotation.
Pin 6 Relay A is normally Low, when High Relay A is turned on.
Pin 7 Relay B is normally Low, when High Relay B is turned on.
Pin 8 Z Step is normally Low, pulsing High to step the Z motor one increment of movement.
Pin 9 Z Dir controls the direction of the motors rotation.
Pin 11 X LIMIT is normally low until the X Limit switch is engage which will make it High.
Pin 12 Y LIMIT is normally low until the Y Limit switch is engage which will make it High.
Pin 13 Z LIMIT is normally low until the Z Limit switch is engage which will make it High.
Pin 14 START must go High for three(3) seconds to enable the servomotor driver modules.
Pin 15 *SERVO FAULT is normally High when motors are enabled and working properly, it will be driven Low on servo fault condition.
Pin 16 *INIT is normally High, driven Low by the Host computer on Reset, thus disabling the motor driver modules.
Pin 17 STOP is normally Low, when driven High by the Host computer it will disable the motor driver modules.

One female DB15 connector for each motor, X, Y1, Y2 and Z.
Pin 1 and 9 ARM(-) is normally the Black wire to the motors armature.
Pin 2 and 10 ARM(+) is normally the Red wire to the motors armature.
Pin 3 ENC(-) is the encoder's return line, normally Black wire.
Pin 4 ENC(+) is the encoder's +5 Volts for power, normally Red wire.
Pin 5 PHASE A is the encoder's A channel output, normally Blue wire.
Pin 6 PHASE B is the encoder's B channel output, normally Yellow wire.
Pin 14 LIMIT SWITCH SENSE shorted to return on limit switch being engaged, normally Yellow wire.
Pin 15 LIMIT SWITCH RETURN, normally Green wire.

Top and Rear of Controller
Toroidal Transformer Mounted on inside of Top Plate. There are two secondary windings, one for providing power to the servo motors and the other for powering the fans and the logic circuitry. The input windings can be configured parallel or series depending the input voltage provided.
